How long is it really taking to sell a home right now?

Fresh figures show the average time from coming to market to Sold STC is still measured in weeks, not days. Yes, plenty of homes do sell.
But it’s worth remembering this important stat 👇
👉 Only around 1 in 2 homes that come to market actually go on to achieve a sale.
The rest are withdrawn unsold – often because the price didn’t match the market from the start.
Here’s how long it’s currently taking to secure a buyer, compared with 18 months ago (Summer 2024):
• Scotland – 48 days (no change)
• Northern Ireland – 72 days (was 87)
• North East – 64 days (no change)
• North West – 72 days (was 70)
• Yorkshire & the Humber – 78 days (was 70)
• West Midlands – 75 days (was 70)
• East Midlands – 82 days (was 76)
• East Anglia – 78 days (was 73)
• Wales – 90 days (was 81)
• South West – 84 days (was 71)
• South East – 82 days (was 73)
• London – 88 days (was 79)

While a few areas have stayed broadly the same, most regions are now taking longer to secure a buyer than they were 18 months ago. The slowest shifts are being seen in Wales, London and the South West.
💡 Why pricing really matters Zoopla has previously reported that homes needing a price reduction take around 2.4 times longer to sell than those priced correctly from day one.
A realistic price: ✔ attracts stronger early interest ✔ keeps momentum going ✔ helps avoid reductions and a weaker final result
