If you own or are buying or selling a leasehold property, keep watching.
Because there could be some significant changes for you to consider in 2025.
The last government passed the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act earlier this year. Although it didn’t bring the new rules into operation whilst in power.
The act aims to make it easier and cheaper for some leaseholders to extend or buy their freehold, among other changes. The current government has pledged to enforce these rules and will announce a new Leasehold and Commonhold Reform Bill in 2025.
We don’t know exactly when this will happen, so it’s important to keep yourself informed.
It’s also essential to take advice from your estate agent or conveyancing solicitor.
They can explain exactly what these changes could mean for you.
