Mortgage Process Explained

01. Pre-Approval

Also known as a decision or agreement in principle. This service helps determine how much you can afford to borrow based on your financial situation.

02. Full Mortgage Application

Once you have had your office accepted you will need to submit your full mortgage application as early as possible. This includes gathering necessary documents, such as payslips, tax returns, bank statements, and other financial records.

03. Underwriting

After receiving the mortgage application, the lender conducts a thorough evaluation of your creditworthiness and the property's value to determine whether the loan can be approved.

04. Mortgage Offer

Once approved you and your solicitor will receive a mortgage offer. Your solicitor will then ensure any queries by your chosen lender are satisfied before exchange of contracts takes place.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. There may be a fee for mortgage advice. The actual amount you pay will depend on your circumstances. The fee is up to 1% but a typical fee is 0.3% of the amount borrowed.
